QUICKLY AMSTERDAM

Yoooo I flew off to Dam this weekend with a few real ones, here's a few things I bothered to take pictures of. On review I haven't got loads of amazing photos of everything I saw and did because we were all pretty fucked all weekend haha.

The flight is mental, like I knew it was short but you're hardly in the air. We spent longer sat waiting to go than in the air.

I'm 3 photos down already and I'm realising I'm not giving you much as far as commentary goes. I've gone back and wrote in some stuff so that won't make any sense. You don't really even need me here to tell you that this is a photo of me and the guys I went with out for dinner do you?

I took a load of Wickedland stickers and plastered them all over the place.

My sister told me about the street food and how it's an insane paradise for hungry stoners. She wasn't wrong.

More red light district WL stickers

This sandwich I had the next day was so nice. I never have salad at home but if ever I get it with shit like this I'm always buzzing.

This was some triple decker grilled sandwich with chicken, bacon and a load of other stuff. It was so nice.

Queers bar. Jamie and Max look like a firm or something, in their olive coats and adidas shoes hahaha. Queers away

The graffiti was ok. I guess there is such a high footfall everywhere all hours there isn't much room to get up in Dam central. I regret not taking more photos of the buildings.

This is such a weird blog post because it's not like I'm really lifting the lid on anything sensational is it, like everyone has been to Dam and knows what it's like

This made me laugh. Surely this would make pisshead brit abroad yobs wanna specifically piss on your door out of defiance.

Basically an easier way to think of me is as a tastemaker for Maxs instagram. Anything that's not cats you can bank on the fact I probably drew his attention to it.

This might be my favourite photo I took all weekend. I love the composition and with the owner pissing himself in the background. On Saturday when Brad, Tom and Dan went to the Heineken Experience myself, Max and Jamie went for a mooch around the city.

Everywhere was battered with stickers. The city had such a thick personality.

Can we get these everywhere please @McDonalds? Serious game changer.

This was the Maestro burger. I wish I kept some sort of log of all the different McDonalds I'd had in different countries. I guess I do, and this blog is it. So what, shut up, I can't be arsed to go back and compile it all. Check out those fries though. Weird right? Like proper chips with mayo.

It was very good.

They had these little places that vended individual burgers that were a couple of euros each.

Loooooutish Briiiiiiits abroooooad, we are the looooooutish Briiiiiits abroaaaad

Bradley killed it, he ordered 3 McDonalds after this night out and sat and battered the lot. What a time to be alive

All those little street vendor places had these hotdogs with loads of toppings that were cooked and then they like recook them in this oven. This was a 'chicken and spicy' one. They were €5 and worth every cent.

I also had this pretty notable brownie cheesecake. I'd get so fucking fat if I lived there.

That's your lot! If you've been, I get it now, what a wonderful little place. If you've not, go! I'm already planning my second trip. Thanks for reading

WASTEMAN OF THE WEEK: 041

WASTEMAN OF THE WEEK - THE GAME

It's heartbreaking when I have to write this shit about someone I actually like. I usually sleep far less on weekends than during the week. Given the nature of the industry I work in I don't have to be at the office until 10am. However, on weekends I get far less sleep. I usually MC at a nightclub on Friday until about 5/6am, my bodyclock kindly wakes me up at 9am the following morning. Then if I decide to stay up and do anything Saturday night (like I did this Saturday) I have the pleasure of waking up at 8am to get ready to play football Sunday morning. It was no secret that this Sunday night (GMT) played host to Super Bowl 50, meaning I stayed up until 4am Monday morning.

So when I got to the office at 10am Monday on a collective 13(ish) hours sleep over the last 3 nights I wasn't best thrilled to remember that The Game was coming to Blueprint (formerly Liquid & Envy) to perform a PA. I sucked it up, got on with it and figured if he is on stage around 1/1:30 I could be back in bed by 2:30, and get a solid 6 and a half hours in, drink a lot of Lucozade all day Tuesday. I got to the club as planned at 12:45, spoke to a friend who was photographing the event who told me the planned stage time was 1:30, everything was running smoothly.

So The Game eventually shows up. He had been at a tour date in Birmingham that night and this was the official after party. A club appearance and PA were promised. It got to 1:30 ...It got to 2:30. People grew restless. The Game was in a roped off area drinking and chilling. People were gathered watching him drink and chill (a bit weird but whatever). Next thing you know it's 3:15 and you look over and there is no big crowd of people there anymore. He had moved up to another VIP area out of sight. A friend of mine who had VIP access told me he saw him exit through the back and go back on his tourbus. I found a promotor and confirmed that he was not performing anymore. I guess the incident was someone kicking off with him or his team for allowing it to get to 3am and there being no live performance.

I walked home VERY tired and very upset. I love The Game, I end up listening to him in some degree most days and have done for the last however many years. But to think he came to a different city, came to a club to perform, sat about drinking and procrastinating and then found a reason to exit in a huff makes me think he's a dickhead. Not the best start to my week, he's been nailed on since Monday.

WASTEMAN OF THE WEEK: 040

WASTEMAN OF THE WEEK - JIM WHITE

As ever with Wickedland we have those odd moments where sports chat creeps in. I try to stop it but every now and then something slips through the net. This week it's in the form of that yellow tied tosspot Jim White. For those who don't know Jim White is a presenter on Sky Sports News, and transfer deadline day is the biggest day in his calendar. This is the day where deals get finalised with players moving from club to club at the end of a transfer window, and Jim White is the man who covers it all for Sky Sports News.

As with many things in popular culture, something that was once quite fun and quaint became popular and now the driving forces (in this case SSN) are keen to repeat the same success forcing a formula and sucking out of it all the fun sporadic bits that made it what it was. It's become over saturated with boring try hard shit, and is super hard to take. To the point where even the mindless drips that make up the community of football fans don't like it anymore. The types who watch Soccer AM. It's gotten that bad. It's everywhere too. I don't really watch SSN that much but Sky make sure he is all over social media just in case you nearly miss him.

I think the problem is that in a lot of cases (as with this window just passed in January) often, these transfer windows are a bit boring. There isn't much value mid season, so clubs aren't really willing to splash big money about. That doesn't halt Sky's need to produce content or constant reporting of non-stories, and with that Jim White's airtime. He is over the top, loud, unfunny and just a general knob. To top that the wankers who keep him in a job at Sky fucking love him. Nothing reminds me of the laddish banter wanker culture that is intertwined with football more than Sky's transfer deadline day coverage and Jim White is the face of it all. In the bin.

DON'T MAKE THESE MISTAKES

Alright there you scumbags? I feel like these kind of posts are few and far between these days. I guess it's a combination of things, because it's winter I'm not venturing out taking photos of dorks in town, also with giving the podcasts more prevalence I'm concentrating on them. Don't worry, we are still here.

You know for years I avoided eating ice cream. Ice cream and crisps. Both deliciously moorish and hard to resist. Nico brought over some Ben and Jerry's a few weeks back and since then I've been fucking hooks. Anything cinnamon gets a pass from me, and this cinnabun one is fucking nuts. I feel like this is going to really be the reason I lose the battle with trying not to get fat.

Look at Olly on Snapchat hahahaha look at that fucking book. Mental. 'The complete book of sexual love'

See the sign in the bottom left of this photo? It reads 'check out our upstairs seating area'. It's for the Detox Shack, in the right of the photo. Why on earth is that fucking around pointing down the high street? That's so ridiculous isn't it? Imagine drawing that and thinking ah sod it that'll do. Just correct it.

I made a chilli in the slow cooker the other week. Man, it's the best thing I've ever bought. I used steak mince, the chilli was insane. It lasted fucking ages too.

I made a beat for a tune that Jafro and Kama are lacing. It should be out soon. Exciting to see what both of these two are going to do this year. Recently I've been making grime beats for a load of different people. I wanna put together a mixtape this year, like a compilation of a load of grime tracks I've produced with different MCs on them. It's always been something I've wanted to do, but I've worked with some cool people over the last few months and I think now might be the time.

How is it we live in a system where people who sell weed can see prison cells but people who feed pigeons walk free amongst us. Mental.

Deliveroo are an awesome company with a great ethos but their working are fucking scum. I'm getting sick of seeing them camped out in Mcdonalds, taking up space and making noise. It's weird as well, like they hire tramps. They're all constantly in there being tramps and showing each other weird videos on their phones logged onto the fucking cloud wifi. Is there anything more poverty than cloud wifi?

I went to see The Revenant the other night with my Mum. It was really good! It's an odd one because everyone was looking forward to it but some of my friends who are into movies didn't like it in the end. Said it was a bit boring. But I really enjoyed it. Tom Hardy is absolutely fucking awesome, it's been great seeing him grow over the last 5 years. He plays such varied roles and can massively transform the way he comes over on screen. I think we could really consider him one of the modern greats if he carries on like this.

I made this recipe out of a slow cooker book I got for Christmas. It was brown and wild rice, with chopped tomatoes, sundried tomatoes, pesto, red peppers and red onions. You cook the whole thing in a chicken stock that obviously reduces as it cooks. It was sublime.

Look at how fucking delicious that looks.

I've been nailing Terry's Chocolate Oranges recently. Very easy to eat, very delicious. Very mental for £1 at Tesco. They weigh so much haha

Went to see Leicester duppy Liverpool at the King Power the other night. It was a great game. Vardy scored that insane goal. I went to the same fixture last season and it's nuts how louder they are this season. Obviously with good cause, but the atmosphere was mental. Leicester fully deserved the win, there was some great football. It's so exciting, dreaming of what they might achieve this season.

It was cool, after the game I was watching the Leicester players and how they reacted to their pretty convincing win. They were all so cool with it, business as usual. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Tom and Liam are Leicester fans. Me and my spot wanted Liverpool to do the business.

Bees has this scab on her forehead at the minute that is the exact shape of Africa. I told her and Oz about how I had a bit of chicken once that was the shape of Africa. Here is a picture of Africa with the scab and the chicken either side. (Scab on the right, I know it's hard to tell because they all look so alike).

I watched a film called Love and Mercy earlier on in the week. It was pretty cool, it was about Brian Wilson and the making of The Beach Boys album 'Pet Sounds' in 1965. It's such an interesting story, I never knew that The Beach Boys made such revolutionary music. Apparently at the time this album was massively experimental and pushed the boundaries with key changes, song structure, chord progression and certain noises that were heard in the album. Things that had never been done.

At the time it massively flopped in the charts as the sunkissed surfer girls of California didn't really like the sound and the direction of the new record and it received mass criticism from critics. As time wore on and people came to understand the importance and realise how influential this record was it received acclaim and people consider it one of the most important records of all time in terms of progressing modern popular music. I was completely fascinated and spent a lot of time over the next few days reading about the album and listening to it on repeat. It does have wonderful moments. I never listened to The Beach Boys much, so it was all really fun and new to me. I would love to have been able to hear it back then and see how it sounded compared to everything else. If you're a seasoned fan or a newbie I'd recommend the film. It's really well put together and it's a very interesting story.

That's your lot! Thanks for reading, I'll be back tomorrow with Wasteman of the Week.
