CHUMBLR 018

Ok now, some new stuff Ive seen. isn't the internet a wonderful resource at times?

I want to start to using block colour in illustrations like this orange, isn't it lovely?

I'm into this and I don't know why.

I love this kind of illustation. This is some mixtape cover I stumbled across on a torrent site. Isn't it great? from the typesetting to the colours I just thought this was a beautiful design.

Again, really nice block bits of colour.

These were cool too, I like the pen work on the second one.

Before you leave check these 2 songs out, both taken from Bat For Lashes most recent album, they only came to my attention earlier this week. I'm in love with these songs at the minute.

FEASTS, POLICE, TREATS AND BEATS

At the single moment I write this it is sunny, therefore I am happy. I'm sure by the time I get to the bottom of this post it'll be snowing again, and I will be reminded it is absolutely freezing, then I'll subsequently be brought down to earth.

Isn't this cake blinding? I saw it in a bake sale at Leicester Uni when I was up there on friday. I don't think the person who made it appreciated how amazing it is. The idea of putting a political message in icing on a sponge cake tickled me.

An amazing mural at a youth centre in Saff.

We were there filming a cypher for a youtube channel. There was this one guy (pictured in the grey tracksuit) called Bizzle, I had not heard of him before but fuck me he was good.

I rolled down with my BLG crackers

That night a few of us went to firebug for a few drinks. Frank is currently hooked on football manager and got his laptop out halfway through the night to talk about his game with Tom. don't you think he looks like a pure internet cafe Skype european guy?

The following night was his birthday, a load of us went out.

A couple of guys we saw at the Landsdowne brought frank a couple of pints on Guinness in quick succession and he was struggling because it is so heavy and thick. he left two, slightly less than half pints in two separate glasses. Whilst he popped off to the toilet me and Tom used some leftover lager that was on our table to make him two new pints on lager Guinness, a delicious, slightly lighter alcoholic mix. Needless to say he didn't drink them.

Three of my friends pulling some faces and doing various things with their hands. The most basic, lowest common denominator of what wicked-land is.

For mothers day Natalie got busy in the Kitchen and did a big mexican duppy with everything you can imagine. We had 2 kinds of chicken Fajitas, loads of stuff to put in them, homemade wedges, mexican veg rice, macho peas and nachos. it was very special!

I had four separate plates on the go at once, it was one of those kind of meals. LOL imagine being african, fucking hell. They don't even have Tesco express's to buy an old el paso Fajita kit.

Whilst we are BOXING off food I went for KFC yesterday with Miles. It was glorious, I've not had one in ages, so i just got everything I wanted, regardless of cost. It went down a treat.

This pair were moving this bloke along. I've got very little time for homeless people. I think 9/10 of them have made bad decisions and put themselves in that position.

I understand some people do not get the best start in life, I'm not stupid, but in this country there are things set up to help young people who are fucked and in that situation. I can't imagine if I lost everything tomorrow, regardless of wether I did it to myself through a lack of discipline and drug/drink abuse, I wouldn't sit on the floor asking strangers for money.

ANYWAY, that's not my point. My point is this guy is harmless, just sat minding his own business and was getting moved along by these two. Do you think that's seriously what they envisioned when they graduated their little police mans course? bothering a harmless homeless man? It's not exactly Starsky and Hutch shit is it. Pathetic little fluorescent wankers.

I clocked a while back that on Match of The Day, Mark Lawrenson wears some shocking shirts. This pinstripe number with a lime green detail on a huge collar was a favourite of all time I spotted the other night.

That's everything then. No snow, we made it all the way through. Instead I'm upsetting myself by trying to work out how everyone around me constantly gets free cars, holidays and festival tickets for no reason. I can't work out where these young people are getting their money from.

IN JOKES, DIM BLOKES, BINNED HOPES AND SINNED CLOTHES

WHASSUP INTERNET WARRIORS!?

I've not really been snapping away this week because after working hard towards the EP release, I've just been chilling. Imagine a load of photos of me watching football, eating peri peri and waking up late.

Had a lovely bit of dinner round Natalies the other evening. She made lamb burgers from scratch and we had them with this really nice rice with all vegetables in it, naan bread and homemade tzatziki. It was fucking marvellous.

You know Leicesters best mental? He came into a bike shop that I was in and started looking at bits and bobs the other day. I've found out quite a lot about it him from a couple of different sources. Rose told me that he used to pop in and see her at her old job all the time and bring her little presents and whatever else, and apparently he is a really cheery person.

I'll never get used to seeing full sized humans wearing romper suits out in the real work like it is just normal behaviour. I won't have it. Let alone a fully denim one, with stars and stripes on it. Don't do that to us please.

This was odd. A hanging basket that is a dog. Even if you were a pure dog person, don't you think this looks almost sacrificial? a wicker dog hanging outside of your front door? It made me laugh.

Queens Road. I've got an on going joke with Teeps that I hate this area and that it is so dead. Max took this wicked picture, I really like the depth of it, the way you can see right to the end of the road. Equally, Teeps has a similar joke where is revered and looked upon like a king in Braunstone. he tweeted me yesterday saying 'One time I was spotted eating KFC on Narborough road, next thing you know Braunstone carnival exists' LOOOOOLLLL that bar had me dying.

Me and Max saw this and realised we missed it! we seen it literally the day after the evening. Im going to keep an eye on it and see if we can get along to the next one. I bet it's so genius. Have you seen the Louis Theroux documentary about amateur wrestling rings? It looks incredible.

You know them times when you feel like your profile picture is a bit dead and outdated? Grab a friend, get down to the highcross and have yourself a little photoshoot. This guys pose kills it. He was taking pictures of his mate when I first spotted them. Amazing scenes.

That's all I've got for you today, short but sweet! I hope you enjoyed reading, Im going to write up about a musician I've been really enjoying recently soon so keep an eye peeled for that, stay scheeeeeeeemiiiiiiin'

CHUMBLR 017

It's been literally months since I collated some things I've been looking at and enjoying and posted them. here are some new joints I've found on the websites and reposted here.

Cool little illustrations

Niiiiice colours on this poster. I like this trend of photographing a poster on this clips against a white backdrop.

I know this logo isn't much but I really liked it. the slight gradient.

I found this on some blog about movie posters. Its a piece of fan art obviously for Kill Bill. The guy who designed it screen printed a version of it on to a steel sheet and gave it to Quentin Tarantino as a present. That's cool right?

This has been my favourite Facebook status of recent times.

Speaking of Facebook, Sam Sawkill shared this. What an interesting, thought provoking message, posed in a very interesting way. Their choice of pen isn't up to much though.

Lots of birds. Lots and lots of birds.

Also, give this a listen. we all know Bruno Mars won best song ever recorded with Locked out of Heaven, but check this out, it's another joint off of his latest album. It's unreal.

Thanks a lot Internet! You've been amazing! Merch at the back!

SILVER TONGUED EP - FREE DOWNLOAD / REVIEW

So I'm sure if you follow my activity on any social media site I would have been getting on your nerves recently filling you in that today is the release of a 4 track EP I've been working on with two of my rap affiliates, Twisted Pennys and Kamakaze. It is entirely vocalled by us three and entirely produced by myself. Here is a break down of the EP with a download link.

we started work on this just over a month ago when we selected the instrumentals we were going to use and decided what we were going to write about. 3 studio sessions later and after a couple of finishing touches here and there the EP is ready for your ears!

For the first track we all thought the beat sounded like something from new york in the 90's. The Boxroom Trio is an alias we had sometimes gave ourself before and we thought it would be cool to use that as a loose topic and that it would serve us nicely as an into to the EP. I got Merky Bouy and Aka Baz in to help us with some cuts and scratches for the chorus and outro, I thought it would lend itself to the tune.

I've been sitting on this next beat for about 4 years waiting for the right project to use it on. I remastered it, and Kama said it put him in mind of Oliver Twist, so we decided to run with 'Sticky Fingers' as a theme. Check out the skit at the start by Kama, we were dying when he recorded it hahaha!

Again, another beat I made a while ago and then remastered for this project. We wanted some loose subject matter to work with, and me and Teeps were talking about a song we did a while back with Skitza called 'It Makes Me Laugh' and literally the title of the song was the only thing that tied the verses together. We set ourself a similar project with this one. Dunstable Farnsworth and Gregory Bloomfontain are both performed by Kama also!

Finally 'At The Weekend' serves as an outro. The whole idea is a retrospective look at the weekend just gone, like as if it's on the Sunday and we are recapping on the events of Saturday night. When I bought an MPD about 2 months ago this was the first instrumental I fully constructed on there, and I'm glad to have put it to good use.

All in all I'm really happy with how quickly we've turned this project around and the general sound quality of it. All four tracks were mixed at the same time, in the same way, and I think this helps make it sound like all four songs belong in the same body of work. I'll definitely be looking forward to working on Silver Tongued 2!

Thanks for reading!
